contentment
"to be content doesn't mean you don't desire more, it means you're thankful for what you have and patient for what's to come" - Tony Gaskins

the feeling of contentedness can either come so easily or hardly come to us. and for you, what make you feel content?
definition(s) of :
1. contentment : a state of happiness and satisfaction.
2. contentedness : feeling or showing satisfaction with one's possessions, status, or situation.
3. content : adj. - in a state of peaceful happiness; v. - satisfy (someone); n. - a state of satisfaction.
The question is, what make us feel content?
here is '9 things science knows about what really keeps us content' :
1. caring about other people
2. old age (or being 23) hmm i wonder about this
3. the 5 traits of positive thinking : being grateful, being optimistic, practicing acts of kindness, relishing in how lucky you are, and using your strengths.
4. exercise
5. enjoying culture enjoying things like ballet, art or sport events are more likely to be happier
6. having pets can I have Lee Minho as my pet?
7. volunteering it creates feeling of greater self-esteem and psychological well-being
9. not thinking too hard about being happy focus on trying to be happy is actually less happy
[#] missing 8 is on purpose.
these are what science says. me? try to be grateful on the tiniest thing. i feel content to have my all time fav rm1 ice cream, i feel content to have a cold shower, i feel content to find my fav series on tv, i feel content to have made Sarah smile.
last but not least, why not check this out - '7 habits of incredibly happy people' :
1. be busy but not rushed - being rushed puts you on the fast track to being miserable
2. have close relationships - it gives us a boost of happiness but beware, relationships are not given
3. don't tie your happiness to external events - can lead to a behavior which avoids failure as a defensive measure; when you fall, you fall hard
4. exercise - oh no! I really need to run a lap or two T.T
5. embrace discomfort for mastery - embracing the bitter past when you're trying hard to master a skill or something that you want to be proficient at.
6. spend more money on experiences - like going to gatherings, programs, meetings. something that stays longer that your Iphone or laptop.
7. don't ignore your itches - we might regret not doing things we love to, so take your time and do it.
in my opinion, to be happy, you need to put yourself first without neglecting others. we need to balance it out. while you try to sort your life, try to help others along the way. I believe that way, we will feel content because in our way to be success in life, we help other to be success in their life too. isn't more meaningful? when we give ourselves gifts, give some to the needy. believe me, you'll smile at least a day long.
when you are unhappy, you'll need your buddies and in my case, I need my food and travel buddies. okay, who want to grab some cakes? and who want to travel with me? cepat2 pm me hehe. being busy at such time is okay, but you still need some time to calm down all the hurricanes in your heart and mind.
whilst it is human to be unhappy some time, keeping yourself happy most of time will help you in so many things like health.
